Swimming with dogs in Tirol

A designated dog-friendly beach in a beautiful spot on Lake Achensee. Two metal steps make it easier for dogs to get into the water.

The Brandeberger Ache is a paradise for swimmers and walkers. There are two gorges to explore on foot: the Tiefenbachklamm and the Kaiserklamm.

Walchsee is not only one of the warmest lakes in Tirol. There is also a dog-friendly beach on the lake’s eastern shore.

The dog-friendly beach on Tirol’s second-largest lake is situated right next to the official bathing beach.

Swimming with dogs is also permitted at Lake Uris – where the banks are largely left in their natural state. (Exception: at the lido)

Fancy a dip? At Pillersee in St. Ulrich am Pillersee, you can do just that in water that’s 18°C – and dogs on a lead are also welcome. (Exception: in the designated swimming area) 

The Riffelseebahn takes you to Austria’s highest mountain lake, at 2,232 metres above sea level. Once at the top, there are easy to moderately difficult walks to enjoy. Afterwards, your four-legged friend can take a dip in the cool water.

A natural lake combined with a sunbathing lawn means pure relaxation for you and your dog. In summer, the lake reaches a temperature of up to 24°

There is a public access point with a bathing beach at Haldensee. However, there is no application for it, and as long as everyone behaves themselves and nobody feels disturbed, it’s fine.

On a warm summer’s day, dogs can cool off in the natural pond and go for a swim.

Crystal-clear mountain water of the highest quality, at a maximum temperature of 21 degrees. Here, your dog can swim off the lead whilst enjoying a breathtaking panoramic view of the Zillertal Alps.

You can swim with your dog in theWildsee wherever there is unrestricted access to the lake. The Wildmoossee and Lottensee – both of which are seasonal – offer a welcome refreshment on hot summer’s days.
